LAGESC Launches Probe into Viral Bribery Video, Suspends Operative

The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), popularly known as KAI, has commenced an investigation into a viral social media video allegedly showing one of its operatives receiving cash from environmental offenders while they were being transported in one of the agency's Green Maria vehicles.


The agency disclosed on Friday that the operative captured in the video has been identified, summoned and placed on operational leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.


According to LAGESC, the probe will be conducted by the agency's Provost and Administrative Department in accordance with the extant rules guiding the Lagos State Civil Service.


Corps Marshal of the agency, Major Olaniyi Olatunbosun Cole (Rtd), reaffirmed LAGESC's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline and corruption, stressing that any officer found culpable would be dealt with in line with established regulations.


He assured residents that the investigation would be concluded promptly and transparently, noting that the agency remained committed to upholding professionalism, accountability and integrity in the discharge of its environmental enforcement responsibilities.


Cole also assured Lagosians that LAGESC would continue to improve its service delivery in line with the Lagos State Government's THEMES+ development agenda aimed at promoting a cleaner, safer and more business-friendly environment across the state.
