Professor Iyabode Adekemi Kehinde, a distinguished Plant Pathologist and academic administrator, has been honoured with the Global Impact Leadership Award in recognition of her exceptional leadership and significant contributions to the advancement of humanity through education, research and institutional development.

The organisers said the award celebrates Professor Kehinde's outstanding leadership qualities and her enduring impact on academic excellence, scientific research and capacity development.

Professor Kehinde obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Plant Pathology from the University of Ibadan in 2008, establishing herself as a respected scholar in plant health and disease management.

Over the years, she has held several strategic leadership positions at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), where she has contributed significantly to the growth of academic programmes and institutional development.

She served as Head of the Foundation Science Programme at the Institute of Human Resources Development (INHURD), FUNAAB, from 2010 to 2014. During the same period, she also made history as the pioneer Head of the Cambridge 'A' Levels Programme at the institute, serving from 2012 to 2014.

In 2014, Professor Kehinde became the pioneer Head of the Department of Pure and Applied Botany, a position she held for two consecutive terms until 2020. Her tenure was marked by efforts to strengthen teaching, research and academic administration within the department.

In February 2020, she was appointed Director of the Academic Planning Unit of FUNAAB, becoming the first woman to occupy the position in the university's history, a milestone widely regarded as a testament to her professional competence and leadership abilities.

Beyond her administrative responsibilities, Professor Kehinde is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Nigerian Society for Plant Protection (NSPP), the Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON), and the American Phytopathological Society (APS), where she continues to contribute to the advancement of plant science and agricultural research.

The Global Impact Leadership Award further recognises her commitment to academic excellence, institutional leadership and service to humanity through education and scientific innovation.
