President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the rehabilitated and expanded Karu Township Roads in Abuja, describing the project as part of efforts by his administration to improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion and stimulate economic growth within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The President, who was represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima at the inauguration ceremony on Monday, said the road project reflected the commitment of his administration to delivering critical infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu said the upgraded roads would improve transportation efficiency, reduce travel time and create a more favourable environment for businesses and residents within the satellite town.
According to him, the ongoing development of road infrastructure across FCT satellite communities is aimed at revitalising local economies and improving the quality of life of residents.
The President commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his efforts in transforming the nation’s capital through the execution of various infrastructure projects, describing his leadership as focused and results-driven.
He also praised Abdul-Val Construction Limited, the contractor handling the project, for completing the work efficiently and demonstrating that Nigerian companies can deliver projects that meet international standards.
Speaking at the event, Wike said the Karu Township Roads project had significantly changed the outlook of the area and urged residents to appreciate government interventions irrespective of political differences.
The minister assured residents that more development projects would be implemented across communities within the FCT, adding that the administration remained committed to improving infrastructure in satellite towns.
The Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, explained that the project links the Karu Interchange on the Abuja–Keffi Expressway to Customs Clinic Junction and includes several adjoining roads.
He added that the completed project would enhance accessibility, improve traffic flow, strengthen drainage systems and boost security, while reducing commuting time between Karu and the Abuja city centre.
