The consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State for the 2027 election, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has pledged to run an inclusive administration if elected governor, assuring residents that no group or interest would be sidelined under his leadership.
Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi and currently representing Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, gave the assurance on Thursday shortly after participating in the APC governorship primary election at Pahayi, Ilaro Ward 1 in Ilaro.
Speaking with journalists after casting his vote, the senator expressed appreciation to party members for their support and confidence in his candidacy, promising to sustain and build upon the developmental achievements of the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
According to him, his administration would prioritise inclusiveness and collective participation in governance.
“I want to assure the people that I will run an inclusive government and carry everyone along. It will be an administration that leaves no group or interest behind,” he said.
The lawmaker commended party faithful for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the governorship primary across the state, describing the exercise as a reflection of the unity, stability and internal cohesion within the ruling party.
Adeola noted that the impressive turnout recorded during the direct primary election further demonstrated the strength of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abiodun for sustaining what he described as the party’s culture of internal democracy.
The APC candidate, however, dismissed reports suggesting that some aspirants were dissatisfied with his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate,
insisting that the decision was reached through extensive consultations and mutual agreement among party stakeholders across the three senatorial districts of the state.
“I am not aware of any aggrieved aspirants over my emergence as the governorship consensus candidate of our dear party. The decision to present me as the consensus candidate was not foisted on the party.
“Rather, it was the result of far-reaching consultations and agreements among stakeholders and leaders of the party across the three senatorial districts of the state.
“To my knowledge, nobody was cheated and nobody was disenfranchised. I received overwhelming support at the Ogun State APC strategic meeting held at the party secretariat. Thereafter, I met with other aspirants, and we are all committed to working together for the betterment of the people of Ogun State,” he stated.
Senator Adeola was received by enthusiastic supporters across the Ilaro metropolis during the exercise. He polled 3,023 votes at Pahayi Ilaro Ward 1, 2,601 votes in Ilaro Ward 2 and 2,419 votes in Ward 3.
The senator later monitored the exercise in Wards 2 and 3, where party members and supporters reportedly cheered him at various polling centres.
Observers said the large turnout of APC members across Ogun West and other parts of the state underscored the growing popularity and acceptance of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations among party faithful and residents ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
