Adeola Hails Abiodun as Sanusi, 35 Others Re-Elected Ogun APC Executives

The Senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has congratulated Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on the successful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Congress, which produced a new State Executive Committee to lead the party for another four years.

The congress, held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, reaffirmed Chief Yemi Sanusi as State Chairman alongside 35 other members of the State Executive Committee.

Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, joined other party leaders and delegates at the exercise, which he described as peaceful, well-organised and reflective of unity within the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress.

According to him, the seamless conduct of the congress underscored the cohesion and maturity of the party in the state. He reiterated the principle of party supremacy and loyalty, noting that members gathered in solidarity to reaffirm the leadership of Alhaji Yemi Sanusi and other executives.

The exercise was ratified through a voice affirmation by 1,180 accredited and statutory delegates. It was supervised by the APC Congress Committee Chairman, Chief Wale Ohu, in the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure compliance with due process.

Among key officials elected were Alhaja Aminat Adigun as State Women Leader, Prince Aderibigbe Tella as State Secretary, and Chief Yemi Adelani as State Organising Secretary.

Addressing party members, Governor Abiodun emphasised the need for genuine internal democracy, warning against patronage politics and backroom arrangements. He urged members to embrace principled leadership, transparency and organisational discipline as pathways to sustainable electoral victories.

The governor commended delegates for endorsing the consensus arrangement without inducement, stressing that future successes would depend on grassroots mobilisation, effective communication of government achievements, and engagement with undecided voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He also called on aspirants who did not emerge victorious to remain loyal to the party, highlighting unity and collective progress as critical to its strength.

Abiodun reminded the newly elected executives that their roles were strategic and tasked them with upholding the party’s constitution, reconciling aggrieved members, promoting inclusiveness for women and youths, and strengthening structures across wards and local governments.

In his remarks, Chief Wale Ohu described Abiodun as a unifying leader whose stewardship has enhanced cohesion within the party.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Yemi Sanusi expressed appreciation to Governor Abiodun and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their support in strengthening the party’s structure. 

He pledged that the new executive would justify the confidence reposed in them by reinforcing party frameworks, promoting fairness and equity, and expanding opportunities for young members.

Sanusi further assured members that discipline would remain paramount, promising accessible and inclusive leadership committed to advancing the collective interests of the party.
