CSR:Ota Division Of TRACE Execute Repairs Of Failed Portion At Nitel Roundabout

 

OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos 

In a bold effort to accelerate traffic flow and improve safety at a damaged portion of the Nitel roundabout on Ilo-Awela Road in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, the Ota Division of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, on Wednesday carried out repair works to fill up the depressed road spots for easy navigation.

The repairs facilitated by a well meaning Businessman, resident in Ota, but chose not to be identified provided resources used for the procurement of hard core materials, gravel and laterite soil used to adequately fill up the yawning portions.

Cdr. Victoria Olaoke, Divisional Commander of TRACE in Ota, told Journalists how motorists in attempts to avoid the bad spots recourse to driving against vehicles navigating the roundabout on their own lane, leading to several crashes, with 'hit and run' incidences becoming regular occurrence, throwing up apprehensions of offenders daily.

Cdr. Ajibade Adekunle, the Area Commander of the Agency further explained to the newsmen on behalf of Seni Ogunyemi the TRACE Commander General and CEO; “The exercise is sequel to a directive from our CG/CE, that we should partner with well meaning individuals and organisations on a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) basis to repair the bad spots for the good of the motoring public and to stem the high number of traffic infractions, resulting in a high number of offender apprehensions. 

He equally said, the Agency is not as interested in apprehending traffic offenders as much as it is interested in collaborating with the motoring public to improve Compliance to Traffic and Safety regulations through collaborative projects as in the Nitel roundabout repairs.

Adding, "we collaborate to erect Road safety Signage at appropriate places on the roads and to carry out Advocacy programmes that will enlighten, sensitize and educate the motoring public on road requirements."

Commander Olaoke appreciated the TRACE Commander General for his able leadership, administrative and managerial supports to her Division, saying, "I sincerely appreciate the TRACE Commander General for his unwavering supports and the needed leverage provided for the successful execution of this palliative work and many others under our Division in Ota.”
