Rotary District 9110 ended their annual ‘family of Rotary’ funfair, tagged, ‘Imaginative Funfair’ on Saturday with lots of exciting activities put together to make the Imaginative Rotary year 2022 end on a remarkable note.
The event brought leaders and members of about 58 different clubs and companies operating under the district to an atmosphere of conviviality, cordiality, friendship, warmth and festivity,
The event started with a novelty match tagged ‘Playing for Peace’ between Progressive football team and Unity football team who are members of different clubs put together to form the two teams, which ended up with the Progressive team winning the match with a lone goal.
Rotarian Omotunde Lawson, the Imaginative District Governor who witnessed the match appreciated all the players for exhibiting the ‘I can do spirit’, which she described as the Rotary spirit, while encouraging the team that did not score, not to feel intimidated, but to remain proud of their performance, expressing confidence that they will do better next time.
In her opening address, Rotarian Lawson said, “I am excited to host you at this 2022 Family of Rotary celebration. This annual family celebration has taken different dimensions and celebrated in different ways and different locations. The whole idea of Rotarians and family members coming together to celebrate like this, will remain evergreen.
“The idea of Club focused funfair this Rotary year was borne out of my desire to do something that will add value to Rotarians, while catching fun, members can connect, this time not in a training atmosphere, but that conviviality that would provide opportunities for businesses and professional networking,” She added.
District Governor Lawson added that the event is well packaged with exciting line ups to give optimum excitements and make it as memorable as it could be for all attendees, giving a thumb up for the planning Committee ably led by Past President Funke Salau, whom she described as, “A goal getter par excellence.”
Earlier in her welcome address, Past President, Funke Salau, Rotary Club of Ota, said, “I feel highly privileged to serve as the Chairman of 2022-2023 Family of Rotary programme, tagged; ‘Koseleri Imaginative Funfair.’ She thanked the Imaginative Governor for the various opportunities to serve in different committees and particularly as the Chairman of the event’s planning committee.
Speaking further Rotarian Funke admonished the Rotarians to use the event as a special opportunity to felicitate with one another, share and spread the love of the rotary family, while also remembering the less fortunate in the society who need helps, supports, care and love in various ways.
Among others, the funfair featured; flag parade, indoor game competitions including; Local Draft, Snookers, Battleship, Ludo, Ayo, and beauty pageant, from where winners are drawn and presented with different gift items, many other events lined up could not be featured for lack of time.
Winners also emerged for; The best decorated Tent, Best Club Outfit, Most Entertaining Club, Club with Highest Attendance and Miss 2023 Family of Rotary.
Over 1000 adults and over 200 children were in attendance, including Past District Governors with their spouses and visitors of Rotarian members.
