Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has commissioned a N3.7 billion road project executed by the Sokoto State Government, describing it as a significant investment in sustainable development and improved infrastructure.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Monday, Kefas commended Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu for prioritising infrastructure development and delivering democratic dividends through strategic road construction projects.
Governor Aliyu said the project reflects his administration's commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents across the state.
He described road infrastructure as a key driver of sustainable socio-economic development, noting that quality roads facilitate the movement of people and goods, improve access to schools, healthcare facilities, markets and residential communities, while also strengthening security and supporting economic growth.
According to the governor, the newly completed roads will ease transportation challenges, improve connectivity, stimulate commercial activities and enhance living conditions for residents and visitors.
Aliyu explained that the project is part of the state's Urban Renewal Programme, aimed at transforming the physical landscape of the Sokoto metropolis through strategic infrastructure development.
He said the initiative has delivered several projects designed to modernise urban centres, improve public amenities and create an environment capable of supporting sustainable economic development.
The governor stressed that infrastructure development goes beyond the construction of roads and buildings, describing it as an investment in human capital, economic opportunities and the long-term prosperity of the people.
He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring inclusive, equitable and sustainable development across all parts of Sokoto State.
Aliyu also urged residents, motorists and other road users to protect the newly completed infrastructure and support its maintenance to ensure its durability and long-term benefits.
