The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested 26 persons during a coordinated enforcement operation targeting criminal activities and environmental violations in parts of Lagos.
The exercise, which began at about 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, was carried out at Muri-Okunola Park in Victoria Island and the Obalende Underbridge as part of the agency's ongoing campaign to rid the state of street urchins, suspected criminals, drug users and peddlers, illegal commercial motorcycle operators, street traders and illegal ticket touts.
In a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the agency disclosed that operatives recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Colorado and other illicit drugs during the raid.
The agency said the operation restored order in the affected locations, adding that all those arrested would be arraigned in court under the provisions of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017, and the Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
The Taskforce reiterated its resolve to sustain similar enforcement exercises across the state as part of efforts to enhance public safety, enforce environmental regulations and tackle criminal activities.
