Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West) has sponsored the registration of 4,000 indigent students for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, in continuation of his annual educational support initiative.
The programme, tagged “Sen Yayi Free JAMB 2026,” was fully funded by the lawmaker and concluded on Saturday, February 21, 2026, with all successful candidates enrolled and provided with their Personal Identification Numbers (PINs).
In a statement e-signed by his Media Adviser, High Chief Kayode Odunaro, and made available to members of the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP), the senator described the initiative as part of his broader commitment to educational empowerment across Ogun State.
Commenting on the exercise, Senator Adeola said the initiative represents another phase of his personal intervention in support of brilliant but economically disadvantaged students, ahead of his scholarship and bursary programmes for tertiary institution students.
“As far as I can help it, none of our children will miss educational opportunities arising from the adverse economic situation of their parents or guardians,” he stated.
A breakdown of beneficiaries shows that 2,183 candidates are from Ogun West Senatorial District, 1,358 from Ogun Central, and 418 from Ogun East, reflecting participation across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The statement added that candidates who supplied incorrect information during registration, were found to be underage, or encountered other issues identified by JAMB are being assisted further to explore the possibility of securing their PINs.
The free JAMB registration scheme, which has run for several years, has reportedly been well received by beneficiaries and their families.
Alhaji Suara Adeyemi from Ipokia Local Government Area, whose daughter benefitted from the scheme, described the gesture as timely financial relief amid rising educational expenses.
Similarly, a beneficiary, Mr. Henry Olaitan from Odeda Local Government Area, said he would have been unable to sit for the examination as his guardian could not afford the registration fees for him and two other children.
The initiative underscores the senator’s sustained focus on expanding access to higher education for students from low-income backgrounds in Ogun State.
