Prince Adetoyese Anifalaje, a Nigerian-born Green Party councillor candidate in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, has pledged to prioritize grassroots development and provide succour to the oppressed if elected.
In an exclusive interview with Media for Global Development Initiative (MFGDI), Anifalaje, who is vying for the St. Peter's ward councillor slot, emphasized his commitment to community-focused leadership, which involves engaging with locals and incorporating their input into policy decisions.
"I am a community-focused service leader with over three decades of experience in managing people, resources, and public-facing services, with a strong emphasis on fairness, accountability, and ethical decision-making," Anifalaje said.
The Green Party candidate highlighted the party's dedication to addressing climate change, a pressing issue affecting grassroots communities, and criticized other parties for failing to deliver on campaign promises.
Anifalaje also addressed the controversy surrounding US involvement in Nigeria's fight against insurgency, describing it as a collaborative effort aimed at protecting the country's territorial integrity.
On Nigerian students studying in the UK, Anifalaje advised prospective students to prioritize information gathering and explore scholarship opportunities to mitigate financial burdens.
The Local Government election in the UK is scheduled for May 7, 2026, and Anifalaje is urging constituents to vote for him, promising to deliver on campaign promises and represent the interests of St. Peter's ward residents.
