A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Hon. Kayode Oladele, has assured political leaders and stakeholders in Ogun West Senatorial District that the zone will present a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections and will not produce multiple governorship candidates.
Oladele gave the assurance amid increasing political consultations and alignments as preparations for the next election cycle gather momentum. He said Ogun West remains committed to a strategic and cohesive approach that prioritises credibility, electability and broad statewide appeal.
According to him, unity is essential to strengthening the district’s political relevance and bargaining power within the APC, noting that only a credible and winnable candidate would enjoy the collective backing of stakeholders from the zone.
“Our objective is clear: to deliver Ogun West for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to produce the next Governor of Ogun State with an overwhelming margin of victory—one unprecedented in the history of gubernatorial elections in the state,” Oladele said.
Responding to questions on whether Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) meets the criteria he outlined, Oladele stated that prevailing political realities support the lawmaker’s suitability beyond personal opinion. He cited Adeola’s established political structure, electoral strength and grassroots reach across the state as key factors placing him in strong contention within the party.
While emphasising that the final decision rests with the APC and its stakeholders, Oladele acknowledged that Senator Adeola remains a popular choice among party members and supporters.
He urged political leaders and stakeholders in Ogun West to place collective interest above personal ambition, adding that consultations were ongoing to sustain unity and position the district effectively ahead of the 2027 elections. LOYAMP
