Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), representing Ogun West Senatorial District, has reiterated his commitment to the development of Ota-Awori, describing the area as a rapidly urbanising and industrial hub requiring sustained investments in infrastructure and social services.
The senator spoke on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the grand finale of the annual Iganmode Cultural Festival held in Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Senator Adeola said the pace of urban growth and industrial activities in Ota-Awori made it imperative to prioritise critical infrastructure, particularly road construction, solar street lighting, healthcare delivery and energy-related projects.
He noted that Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area has been a major beneficiary of his legislative interventions, adding that the projects were designed to address the specific developmental needs of the area.
According to him, over 300 infrastructure projects have been completed across the Ogun West Senatorial District within a little over two years.
The projects, he said, include more than 115 road construction works, 30 school buildings, 32 primary healthcare centres, 25 modern markets, 13 town halls, 10 ICT centres, two intensive care units, two libraries and eight police stations.
He also listed the donation and installation of over 200 electric transformers and 250 solar streetlight projects covering about 26,000 poles, as well as his intervention in the repair and upgrade of 10 major electricity infrastructures affecting about 100 communities, noting that work had commenced and that Ado-Odo/Ota was among the beneficiaries.
On empowerment programmes, Senator Adeola disclosed that more than 50,000 constituents had benefited from skill acquisition initiatives, equipment support and cash grants. He said about 15,000 market men and women received grants ranging from ₦25,000 to ₦50,000, while approximately 6,000 farmers benefited from farm inputs and machinery, including tractors.
In the education sector, he said over 4,500 tertiary institution students had received scholarships and bursaries valued between ₦100,000 and ₦200,000, while more than 1,000 secondary school students benefited from laptop distribution under his education support programmes.
The senator commended the Olota of Ota-Awori, Oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege, for promoting cultural renaissance and peaceful coexistence in the community. He said cultural festivals such as Iganmode, if properly harnessed, could serve as drivers of tourism and socio-economic development.
Senator Adeola also praised Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for promoting tourism through the support of cultural festivals across the state, including Ojude Oba, Oronna Ilaro, Lisabi, Iganmode and Akesan Day celebrations.
He attributed the relative peace and reduction in criminal activities in the state to the governor’s security initiatives.
He further commended ongoing road, hospital and education projects in the state, describing the Gateway Cargo Airport at Iperu-Remo as a flagship project that reflected the administration’s development agenda.
Reaffirming his alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Senator Adeola pledged to continue to complement the efforts of the Ogun State Government in advancing development across Ogun West and the state at large.
