Eid-El-Kabir:LASDRI Advocates Safe Driving During, After Sallah Festivities

In a build -up towards Sallah festive period, Lagos State Driver's Institute LASDRI  has cautioned the commuting public on the need to embrace safety precautions during and after Sallah celebration.


In her Sallah message to the motoring public, Mrs Tiamiyu Afusat, the General Manager, Lagos State Driver's Institute  felicitates and cautioned Muslims Ummar on the occasion of the Sallah celebration, urging them to learn from the discipline and trustworthiness exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim through sacrifice, by showing discipline and consideration for other road users to avoid menace of road crashes.


Tiamiyu said there is always an increase in the vehicular movement during this period and advises motorists to be safety conscious during the festivity by ensuring adequate maintenance of their vehicles before embarking on any trip and shun unsafe behavior while on the roads.


In her words "speed thrills but kills, drive within the prescribed speed limit, stay away from dangerous overtaking, don't drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol, distracted or fatigue driving, share the roads responsibly with others.


Road Safety is a shared and collective responsibility and let us work towards safer highway during this season and always."


She urged motorists to critically ascertain their body conditions, whether they are emotionally, mentally and physically fit to drive a vehicle. She added that the agency would continually visit motor Parks to dissuade drivers from taking alcohol and any substance capable of affecting their moods and psyches.


However, LASDRI boss said there is still much more  work to do in terms of safety wareness, sensitization and infrastructure to help in ensuring mitigation of traffic crashes on our road. She appealed to all road users to show obedience to all traffic rules and abide by instructions giving  by all traffic management agencies who are working to ensure free flow of traffic to make the roads safer for all.
