Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Otunba Segun Showunmi has appealed to former President Olusegun Obasanjo to hurriedly return to the country and render his pan-african experience in salvaging Nigeria from political destruction.
Showunmi, a PDP governorship aspirants in Ogun State, equally appealed the former President not to abandon the country as the 2023 general elections inches closer.
He stated this on Friday in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The eloquent critic disclosed that as a highly experienced and pan-Africanist that Obasanjo is, he should never be tired of offering his much valued help and advise as the country navigate through change of leadership during next year general elections.
Showunmi who was full of appreciation for the invaluable contributions of the former President towards resolving crisis in African countries especially, his recent intervention in Ethiopia crisis disclosed that this was another great peace building efforts and achievement that was worthy of commendation
He said “I join millions of people, especially the Ethiopians in thanking you Baba Obasanjo for your effort at resolving the crisis in Ethiopian crisis that had ravaged that African country for decades. It is very consistent with your life of service, I remember with nostalgia the same effort during the former Rhodesia now Namibia and Zimbabwean conflicts in the 70s. Baba, you have taught many life lessons, especially in the area of a purpose-driven life”.
